Sweet Tree Bitter Tree

It is a spring morning today

Your fruits are almost ripe

And everything here is yellow and green.

But I have done it again

Three times in the last year

And I’m not worried.

Sweet Tree Bitter Tree

Every time I see you, I’m lost in you

You are my dwarf

You are the boss of my dreams

You are my death.

Sweet Tree Bitter Tree

When the wind blows heavily through your branches and leaves

I sit down beside your roots and listen.

I listen to your motions and they are ringing in my ears

They look like words

Those words go through my mind endlessly

Words of love, words of freedom, words of death

If only these words could bring you back.

Sweet Tree Bitter Tree

Inside of you I see a small old man

He’s trying to get out, to touch me, to whisper

And I recognize the voice

A voice from the grave.

Are you there dad?

Why did you leave so soon?

It was so heartbreaking

I can’t forget that fateful day

You had to leave, you went away

You have left my heart broken

shattered like broken glass upon the floor.

Sweet Tree Bitter Tree

Nothing is just what it seems to be

But in the end, there is a certain sense of order here.

I have nothing against life

And again I have nothing against death

Both of those seem to be different things

Both of those are so tied up in each other

They are like two sides of the same coin

And I like to keep them closely together.

Sweet Tree Bitter Tree

Today is going to be another perfect day

And Ican do it once again.

Let me cross your strong, thick and protective tree bark

Open the darkness for me

After the black of the black

I see the lightness

And It is only the beginning

Let me in

I will come soon.
